Base Pay

This role has a minimum base pay from $17.30 per hour with higher starting pay available based on experience.

Purpose:

Floor & Decor Sr. Designer leads our design team and provides a seamless start to finish consultative design service that builds lasting relationships and brand loyalty with the customers we serve. At Floor & Decor, Senior Designers are responsible for meeting with customers, listening to their project needs, educating them on all that is required for their project, and building a creative design concept that incorporates the customers' personal style, lifestyle, and budget.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Interior Design(or 6 years of interior design experience in lieu of education)
  • Combination of education and experience totaling at least 6 years
  • Prior retail/sales experience preferred
  • Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus
  • Proficient in basic mathematical skills
  • Self-motivated, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Internal candidates must have 24 months of Floor & Decor Designer experience

Essential Functions

  • Build and maintain lasting relationships with residential and professional customers
  • Greet and assist walk-in customers in the store
  • Schedule and conduct design appointments; develop clientele through networking, referrals, and store-generated leads
  • Advise customers on tile, wood, stone, and accessories for residential and commercial projects
  • Design and sell complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing project solutions
  • Manage multiple customer projects with high accuracy, timeliness, and strong follow-up communication
  • Utilize company tools such as Salesforce, Online Design Appointment Scheduler, and MyProject
  • Collaborate and communicate with store leadership to manage inquiries through installation
  • Engage in current and emerging local design trends
  • Participate in local professional organizations (e.g., ASID, NKBA)
  • Support company initiatives by modeling and coaching best practices
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Travel: Limited, primarily by car
  • Environment: Frequent exposure to warehouse settings and moving vehicles; noise level varies from moderate to noisy.
  • Physical Requirements:

    • Medium Work: Ability to exert 20–50 lbs occasionally, 10–25 lbs frequently, or >10 lbs constantly

    • Regular use of hands and fingers; occasional standing, walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
